
Celeste Cardenas
Celeste is currently a high school sophomore at the John Jay Science and Engineering Academy of San Antonio. Celeste is 16 years old and plans to graduate in the spring of 2008. She is actively involved in church and her high school band. She is musically inclined and plays the flute in the varsity band. She also plays cymbals for the high school's winter drum-line. She plans to attend the University of Houston College of optometry and double major in optometry and business management. She would like to become an accomplished optometrist and someday open her own practice.
Celeste plans on using her title to help troubled teens obtain a more positive outlook in life. She wants to use her past experiences as inspirations for others.
Celeste has truely learned the importance of family through the loss of her older brother, Xavier, in the winter of 2004. Getting through it has been difficut, but with the help and support of her parents, she will be able to overcome all obstacles.
Miss Cardenas strives to defeat depression in local teens, "Life is worth living," she says, "It should be charished every day with every breath you take, and if a girl like me can make your day better by passing you a smile or by listening to what you have to say, then I want to be the one with open ears and an open heart."
